Captain’s Day 2025 – A Nod to the Armed Forces (and Frying Pans)

Captain’s Day 2025 brought the sunshine, the spirit and some serious style – all with a respectful nod to the armed forces. Outfits ranged from army fatigues and land girl dresses to medical uniforms and even a patriotic pup sporting a standout bandana. The heat didn’t stop the fun; and neither did the frying pans…

The day kicked off with a 9-hole Texas Scramble in the morning, followed by a Stableford competition in the afternoon, but not just any Stableford. The course was peppered with quirky challenges:

Tee off the 10th… using a frying pan
Play the 7th hole with only a 7 iron
Navigate a putting competition
Use bright orange tees on a par 3

What seemed simple on paper quickly became a test of focus and balance – and anyone who managed a decent shot with a frying pan deserves a medal of their own.

With temperatures soaring into the 30s, hydration was essential, and we owe a massive thank you to Club Captain Mark Walker, his wife Karen and their daughters Kelly and Sophie. From cold drinks to constant support, they kept everyone going all day long. The clubhouse team were equally on top form – feeding and watering us with impressive speed between competitions and again after a full 27 holes.
